If you’ve ever been on Pinterest, you’ve probably seen photos of Cinque Terre.
It’s widely considered to be one of the most picturesque, magical places in the world, and is on many travelers’ bucketlists. For good reason! Cinque Terre boasts vibrant, colorful buildings, fresh seafood, handmade pasta, local wine, kind and friendly locals, gorgeous hikes, and absolutely insane views from all angles. Who wouldn’t want to visit?! I mean, seriously.
But when I first saw photos of Cinque Terre years and years ago, I fell head over heels. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew I had to go see it in person, no matter what it took. When I was planning my crazy two month European adventure back in 2015, Cinque Terre was one of the first places I put on my list! If you’re in the midst of planning your own trip to Italy, be sure to check out this post to learn about the 10 things Italians want you to know so you don’t make any of the goofy mistakes other tourists do!
I took about four bajillion photos during my week there (a rough estimate), but I’ve finally pared the pile down to only my favorite snaps. Check out some of the best moments from my time in Cinque Terre below. And go slow…imagine the warm summer sun, an Aperol Spritz in your hand, and as the Italians say, revel in il dolce far niente – the sweetness of doing nothing. If only for a few minutes. Enjoy!

Now, I only officially started blogging this year, but believe me, I have some detailed-as-heck notes from my time in Cinque Terre that are making their way into a full blog post guide to these five beautiful villages, don’t you worry! That guide to Cinque Terre will be coming soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from my time there.
P.S. My favorite villages were Vernazza, Riomaggiore and Monterosso, though the other two are veeeerrry close behind. All five towns are simply gorgeous, and require their own exploration. Vernazza in particular just spoke to me. Maybe it was the fact it’s where my favorite pesto pasta and amarena gelato were located. Ahem.
I thoroughly enjoyed walking down memory lane (with myself) and hope you enjoyed it too! Much more on Cinque Terre (and lots of other European cities) coming soon to a blog near you! I hope you gained some bucket list inspiration and these photos of beautiful Italy boosted your wanderlust, even just a little bit. Get out there and see the world this summer! Here are some ideas on what to do in Cinque Terre:
GORGEOUS! OMG! Serious inspiration. When did you go? Is the weather the same all year round? I’d love to go when it’s warm and swim in the ocean.
Isn’t it incredible? It’s seriously my favorite place. So magical. I went in July, but even the “bad” weather isn’t terrible – just chillier and rainy usually during the winter months. You can go anytime, but depending on what you want to do, check out the weather beforehand! Summer is amazing.
Beautiful photos! It’s quite close to Slovenia where I live, so have to plan a trip there next year π
Ahh I’m so jealous!
This place looks absolutely gorgeous!

I am so jealous! Cinque Terre looks so beautiful. Love all the gorgeous shots and edits that you have done. Cant get enough!
This is a great post. I’m actually going to Cinque Terre in June – so excited! Would you say it’s safe to leave your bag/towel on the beach while you go swimming??
Ooh, so excited for you! I had no problem leaving my stuff on the beach but I wouldn’t bring super expensive cameras with you or anything unless you have a buddy to watch them. Just use your common sense – if it’s a crowded beach and very touristy, probably not the best idea. If it’s quiet and more local, it’s probably safer π
Absolutely stunning photographs. They make me want to visit. I love that you’ve caught some of the local elements and not just the typical views.
Thanks so much Mike!
Beautiful invitation to Cinque Terre–including that lttle curley-haired tot, the clotheslines, the bicycle. You give such a lovely overview of places! Thanks for taking us there vicariously.
Thanks for always inspiring and encouraging bravery and travel in your daughter! π
Cinque Terre HAS to be one of the most photogenic places on the planet! Gorgeous photos!

Your photos are absolutely gorgeous, stunning, beautiful. Sure there are more names but those are the ones that pop into my mind. I would love to visit one day!
Thank you so much Tracy! That means a lot! I absolutely adored Cinque Terre and hoped it showed through my photos. I’m sure you’ll love it when you get to go too!
